Gold, Silver and Bronze!

Sport Climbing has been trying to become an Olympic Sport for many years, and recently failed to be part of the 2020 Olympics. Never-the-less the youngster had plenty of fun scaling the tower and abseiling back down. Points were awarded for popping balloons, on the climb, and landing on stars at the bottom of the abseil.  Lets hope sport climbing soon becomes a recognized Olympic sport!

Tobogganing is in the current Winter Olympics in Sochi, although they have other names such as Bobsleigh, Luge and Skeleton. They involve sliding at speed on your backside (except Skeleton); and judging by the speed these youngsters were getting Lizzy Yarnold better watch out!

They also emulated curling by sliding down in large rings towards a target, with accuracy and cunning: chess on ice! To add to the Bronze and Silver medals won in Sochi by Team GB.

Skiing has always been in the Olympics, and some new events were introduce this year: such as Slopestyle! The session was tailored for both the novice and the experienced, with the children taking their first steps in ski boots to perfecting those turns. Interestingly many of our Team GB Olympic Skiers started off on dry-ski slopes!

Biathlon was replicated by throwing balls through Olympics Rings, having skied down the dry-slope and negotiating obstacles!

So a fab day was had by all; and even though it wasn’t an activity on the day, there were plenty of Snowboarding lessons happening thanks to  Jenny Jones‘ who won Bronze in Snowboard Slopestyle.
